Tony Spiro began life in Los Angeles, CA growing up with music always in the house. He began playing drums at the age of 10 and by the time he was in high school he played in multiple bands and ultimately was rewarded a scholarship to go to the world-renowned UNT School of Music. While at school in Denton, TX he would occasionally miss concerts that he had intended to see. To fix this problem, he decided to build an online music schedule that would help remind everyone when and where all of the local shows were happening. He tried his luck at programming HTML and found it to be fun and challenging. One thing lead to another and he was soon googling how to create a user management system using PHP and MySQL. Along with the coding, he wore the different hats of designer, promoter, marketer, editor, advertising sales manager, to name a few. Eventually he had a music community website for Dallas, Fort Worth and Denton all clued into the happenings in each area of the metroplex. The new offering provided a schedule of events, music reviews, articles and even an online ticketing system for thousands of registered users.
The web development hobby then became a career as he began developing websites and applications for agencies, startups and big corporations. This then led him to another idea born out of the same frustration that spurred him to get into web development. There needs to be a better way to manage content. One that doesn’t involve an installed system and can be easily used by developers and non-developers alike. And Cosmic JS was born.
Tony lives in Dallas, TX with his lovely wife Jena, his dog Buddy and is excited to soon be the dad of a baby girl.
