Michael Thomas is a native Texan and a graduate of Southern Methodist University with degrees in Philosophy and Religious Studies. In 2006, after graduating from SMU, Michael began his non-profit career with the Muscular Dystrophy Association in Corpus Christi, Texas as a Program Coordinator and was responsible for fundraising in the Corpus Christi Bay area and assisting in the MD family clinic. He later relocated within the MDA to Las Vegas, Nevada where he was assigned the role of the Assistant Director.
Michael then moved on to work with a non-profit organization Opportunity Village, an organization dedicated to vocational training for adults with disabilities in the Southern Nevada area. He spent two years working as a Special Events Manager and Program Development Manager for the organization where he assisted in the establishment of the organization’s Ovation Performing Arts program.
In April of 2010, Michael moved back to North Texas and joined My Possibilities as the organization’s Executive Director. In the past 5 years, the organization has grown from serving 30 families each week to over 300 and is considered a leader and benchmark for continued education for adults with cognitive disabilities.
Michael has many plans to spread the My Possibilities mission throughout Plano and the entire Dallas/Fort Worth metro-plex as he strives daily to serve the mission of the organization to “courageously and relentlessly pursue the full, untapped possibilities of our Hugely Important People, making every day count.”
